Basque counter culture, BGC ground floor. ICEX-certified Restaurant from Spain. 34 pintxos at a time, jamón sliced on a hand-cranked wheel, Cava by the glass — the canonical Spanish lunch and wine evening in central BGC.
Bar Pintxos started in Alabang, crossed the city in 2019 to plant in Fairways Tower, and brought its ICEX-certified Spanish credentials with it.
Bar Pintxos started as a passion project in Alabang, then crossed the city in 2019 to plant a flag in Fairways Tower on 5th Avenue — the rare BGC arrival that came in already with a cult following from the south. The format is the point: pintxos, the Basque counter-snack tradition of one-bite skewers ordered constantly across a long evening.
The kitchen runs 34 pintxos at once, ranging from a ₱95 jamón-allioli that doubles as a welcome bite to a uni-lardo-ibérico mash-up that Manila food writers have been chasing photos of for years. ICEX-certified as a "Restaurant from Spain," it's one of the few Manila Spanish kitchens that actually answers to a Madrid jury.
What makes Bar Pintxos matter on BGC's bar map is that it treats Spain as a drinking culture, not a fiesta theme. You can come in for two pintxos and a glass of Albariño, you can post up for three hours of paella and sangria, and both feel like the intended use. The wine list — Cava, Albariño, Torrontés, Tempranillo — is short but actually Spanish, and the gin program with Gin Mare at the center is the closest you'll get to a Madrid gin tonic outside Madrid.
"The Mar I Muntanya is the single best one-bite I've had in BGC. Uni, lardo, ibérico — stupidly good."— Food blogger · Bar Pintxos BGC · 2024
Voices from the food bloggers who flew in for the Mar I Muntanya, the BGC office workers who use it as their wine canteen, and the Spanish-passport regulars who treat it as home.
"The Mar I Muntanya is the single best one-bite I've had in BGC. Uni, lardo, ibérico — stupidly good. Pair with Albariño by the glass."
"Order the sangria pitcher, ten pintxos, share everything. That's the playbook. Three hours fly by; the pintxos arrive in waves."
"Best Spanish in BGC. The jamón is sliced fresh and you can taste it. ICEX-certified for a reason — answers to Madrid, not just the BGC market."
"Bar Pintxos treats Spain as a drinking culture, not a fiesta theme. The wine list is short but actually Spanish, the gin program runs Gin Mare, and the jamón is sliced fresh on a hand-cranked wheel."
The room is bright by Manila bar standards — terracotta tiles, dark wood counter, brass pendant lights warming over a long pintxos display case where today's bites sit pre-skewered on baguette. Tables are tight, conversation runs at a Madrid-pitch loud, and the bartender behind the counter slices jamón to order on a hand-cranked wheel. Lunchtime brings Fairways Tower lawyers eating standing up; evenings shift to longer dinners with sangria pitchers landing on every other table. It's not a hushed wine bar — it's a working tapas counter, and the energy is exactly what the format demands.

Weekday lunch (12 – 1:30 PM) brings Fairways Tower lawyers and office workers — the format runs fast, pintxos eaten standing at the counter. Weekday dinner (6 – 9 PM) is the wine-bar pacing. Weekend dinner (Sat – Sun, 7 – 9 PM) is the sharing-evenings crowd; reservations for 4+ recommended.
Order rhythm: pintxos arrive in waves, not in a single plate. Order 4–6 to start, eat them across 30 minutes, order another 4–6, repeat. Pair: Cava with cold pintxos, Albariño with seafood, Tempranillo with charcuterie. Order the Paella Cordero portion (or full pan, 30-min wait) at the start if you want it. End with a Gin Mare Tonic — the gin program is real.
Best slots: weekday 12 PM lunch (counter-standing format), weekday 7 PM dinner (calmest), Saturday 6 PM (pre-rush, paella full pan possible). Avoid: Friday 8 PM dinner without reservation — counter fills.
Fairways Tower is on 5th Avenue in BGC, ground floor. Entrance from the 5th Avenue side; Bar Pintxos has a frontage on the street with terracotta tiles visible. Free parking at Fairways Tower garage; Grab and Uber drop-offs at the front entrance. Sit at the counter on a first visit — the jamón wheel and the pintxos display are part of the experience.
Patikim's recommendation — Bar Pintxos is the canonical BGC Spanish-evening anchor. Pair with a Brewery at the Palace late-night beer round upstream (Uptown BGC) or a Bank Bar speakeasy nightcap (10 min walk) for the full BGC dinner-to-drinks sweep.
What to know: pintxos arrive in waves; Mar I Muntanya is the famous one-bite; jamón sliced to order; ICEX-certified; Paella full pan needs 30-min wait. Cards / GCash / Maya / AmEx all accepted.
